The Spencil Writer's Prize
The Spencil Writers Prize celebrates imagination, creativity and the power of words. Open to young writers aged 13 years and under, it's a chance for children to share their unique voice, showcase their writing talent and be part of something truly special.
Whether it's a short story, poem, fantasy adventure, mystery or heartfelt creative piece, we want to see the world through their eyes. There is no minimum age to enter, so even the youngest storytellers are encouraged to let their imagination shine.
Entries are judged in two age categories based on the entrant's age as of 4 March 2026, the competition closing date:
8 Years and Under
9 to 13 Years
Have more than one story to tell? We'd love to read them all! There is no limit to the number of entries, so young writers are welcome to submit multiple stories, poems or creative writing pieces.
Every entry will be showcased in our online gallery because every story deserves to be read, celebrated and shared. Creativity comes in many forms, and every young writer has a story worth telling.
