Each year we collaborate with a local artist to commission a new design and create a special range for kids to love and cherish.
We are beyond excited to introduce you to this years Spencil Collab: Kalkatungu Muu!
This artwork has been painted by the incredibly talented 15-year-old Jesse Sutton, who is a proud Kalkadoon Aboriginal artist from the Mt Isa region.
His painting is a celebration of Aboriginal culture and we couldn't be prouder to share his story and work with the Spencil community!
In his painting, Jesse describes the rippling water, mountainous landscapes and community symbols as the cultural expressions of his people and his country.
He is proud to share his artwork with the Spencil community and says it's important for younger generations to understand the stories and culture of the Kalkadoon people.
You may recognise the Sutton family name, and for good reason!
Jesse is the brother of Brooke Sutton, who commissioned the magnificent Yarrawala artwork in collaboration with Spencil.
A family with absolutely no shortage of talents, we are thrilled to be working with such inspiring, young, local artists!
